Student TAP Coach - Integral Part

To count in the determination of whether you are full time and eligible for financial aid, the courses that make up your minimum full-time course load must be an “integral part” of your program of study—that is, the courses must apply to the program’s requirements—as a general requirement, a major requirement, or an elective.

If you want to include in your program of study certain activities in addition to regular courses you may. The Regulations of the Commissioner of Education provide that activities such as independent study, practice teaching, thesis and dissertation research, and non-credit or remedial study can be included in the determination of full-time and part-time study, providing the activity is “required or approved by the school, in a plan of study pre-filed by the study with the school, as an integral part of the student’s program.”
