HESC RFI Generator Launched
Ann Higgins
The HESC RFI Generator, a free Web-based tool, is designed to simplify the FFEL preferred lender RFI process for schools and lenders.
Using the RFI Generator, schools can create a customized RFI by selecting questions from the RFI Generator catalog, adding additional questions as each school sees fit.
Schools assign an importance level to each question, ranging from 1 to 5. Importance levels are used for scoring the lenders’ responses. Once the school has chosen their questions, the RFI may be generated as an Excel spreadsheet and emailed to any lender the school chooses.
After responding to the questions, lenders return the spreadsheet to the school. The school, in turn, applies their own evaluation criteria and scoring methods, recording each question’s score in a “school use only” field. Once the scores for all of the responses are compiled, the school can compare the lenders.
Currently, the RFI Generator is designed to be used for FFEL loans. In the near future, HESC will release an additional RFI template for private loans.
