HESC Unveils New Financial Aid and Literacy Podcasts

Joanne Razzano

Hearing the calls for more financial aid and financial literacy education, HESC is delivering a new, free podcast series to provide this vital information to students and families.

HESC’s video series focuses on financial aid, defining the types of student aid and detailing the application process. The nine-podcast series highlights the FAFSA, offering step-by-step help for students and families completing the online application.

The financial aid video series is hosted by Heather McDonnell, former president of the NYSFAAA and current director of financial aid at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY.

The audio podcast series spotlights financial literacy topics – the first release is Smart Borrowing, describing the various types of student loans and offering assessment help and planning information.

Each audio podcast runs under six minutes and is targeted to young adults in a snappy, upbeat style.

High school counselors and college administrators may make all of the free podcasts available to students and their families by linking to HESC.org. New podcasts will be released weekly during April; free subscriptions are available via RSS feed.
