Dawn Germano joined HESC in the spring of 2006 as a Regional Service Manager, assisting schools in many regions of the state, working closely with Consulting Services performing program evaluations, and serving as a member of the HESC Default Prevention Grant review committee.
In addition, Dawn has contributed to numerous special projects for the Customer Relations Division. They include development of Web-based products, best practices guidelines, and a default management kit. She was also part of the team that developed “strategies for success” workshops for nontraditional schools.
Prior to joining HESC, Dawn spent 25 years at Hudson Valley Community College, where she gained extensive experience in financial aid services by preparing students and their families for the financial challenges of pursuing a college education. During her tenure at HVCC, Dawn devoted over ten years to providing loan programs oversight. She managed the school’s default management program for three years, during which the default rate dropped by 50%. Finally, she worked to implement and promote the school’s computerized placement testing pilot program, leading to involvement in setting HVCC’s enrollment and retention goals.
Dawn believes that, "My past experience and my current status as a HESC Regional Service Manager have given me the skills and knowledge needed to support school administrators in providing the best service to their student populations – by partnering with HESC.”
Dawn has attended workshops and received training from many financial aid organizations through the years, including SUNYFAP and NYSFAAA. She is a proud member of NYSFAAA.
