Kathy Crowder

The growing level of student indebtedness has created the need for more financial literacy and debt management information. HESC is meeting the need in a variety of ways.

Smart Borrowing and Debt Management Brochures

HESC is releasing two new brochures that offer credit card, budgeting, and smart-borrowing advice and repayment tools this fall:
  • Smart Borrowing for your Financial Future
  • Managing your Student Loan Debt

The brochures will be offered in English and Spanish. As companions to these student pieces, HESC will offer presentations and scripts that administrators can use in their financial literacy efforts.

Exit Interview Materials

Many schools need help with their exit interview counseling requirements. HESC is developing materials that college administrators can use during these sessions or mail to those students not in attendance. The materials include:
  • Cover Letter A cover letter template schools can personalize and customize with required average indebtedness information.
  • Paying Your Student Loan is Serious Business An exit brochure featuring informational inserts, such as Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Borrower Information Sheet A tear-off borrower information sheet to fulfill reference and address contact requirements, with copies for the school, HESC, and the borrower.
  • Your Financial Aid Folder A financial aid folder that schools can give students to help them organize and store important loan and other documents.

Additional helpful resources for administrators will include:
  • Best Practices Booklet
  • Exit Interview Guide

Several financial aid administrators have volunteered to review and give input on these materials to ensure they meet your needs.

We are also exploring the possibility of adding a video to the suite of exit interview products available to you.
