HESC Spotlight: Beth Post

Jen Dwire

HESC is proud to shine the spotlight on the new director of financial aid at the University at Albany, Beth Post.

Beth began her career in financial aid 20 years ago when, upon graduation from Siena College, she was hired as part-time student service representative and part-time financial aid assistant at an Albany-based trade school where a friend of hers worked.

She quickly discovered her affinity for financial aid, advancing her career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and then at Union College. Beth thrived at Union for 14 years, most recently as director of financial aid.

Beth is very excited to serve UAlbany’s large, diverse population, especially with the opening of the new Student Services Center which integrates services from the offices of financial aid, registrar and student accounts.

“To be at the university at a time when we are transforming the delivery of services and to make a significant, positive impact on student satisfaction is very satisfying!” Beth said.

As Beth starts her new job, her enthusiasm for the profession is palpable.

“The potential for fulfillment in most professions does not come close to that of financial aid. Our profession is full of dedicated people who are committed to assisting students in bettering themselves through education. And we do our work with a great sense of camaraderie,” she said.

Throughout her busy financial aid career, Beth has made time to volunteer both with NYSFAAA and the Legislative Forum. As a volunteer she has found, “volunteering on a committee is the surest way to increase your network of colleagues and feel a sense of accomplishment and participation.”

HESC congratulates Beth on her new position and wishes her well as she continues to fulfill her professional mission.
