On the Road to Marketplace

Jennifer Dwire

HESC Student Loan Marketplace is ready for final testing; we are awaiting final contract approvals in order to launch.

Meanwhile, Marketplace’s arrival is being eagerly anticipated by school administrators from across New York. In fact, several schools – the College of St. Rose, Sarah Lawrence College, SUNY Oswego, St. John's University and Marymount Manhattan College – have already started to work with Marketplace’s School Administrator Portal.

The School Administrator Portal allows each school’s administrators to customize Marketplace pages with information that applies to their students only, such as their actual loan period dates, programs offered, and preferred lender rating disclosure statements. In addition, a separate content area has been set aside for each school that allows administrators to provide students with important information such as costs and/or pertinent Web links to specific areas of their own Website. This portal allows school administrators to edit information themselves, ensuring that the information presented within Marketplace is always timely and accurate.

As schools grow familiar with the portal, HESC is making progress with lenders. Currently, two lender partners are loading their information into Marketplace, one lender is finalizing contracts, and two more will begin the contract process in October. HESC looks forward to welcoming additional lenders to Marketplace and will continue to work with all who are interested.

We thank all of our colleagues for their enthusiastic support of Marketplace – a tool that will play a key role in the student loan process for you, for HESC, and for the students we serve.
